The basics

About DragonWhatZ

Is DragonWhatZ an official Dragon Ball site?

No. DragonWhatZ is a fan-made project with no connection to Toei Animation, Shueisha or Bird Studio. Dragon Ball and its characters belong to Akira Toriyama, Bird Studio, Shueisha and Toei Animation.

Can there be spoilers?

Yes, especially on hard, which includes characters who only appear in the Dragon Ball Super manga. If you are not caught up with the series yet, start with easy or normal.

Where does the character data come from?

We start from the Dragon Ball Wiki and review the trickiest fields by hand, such as hair, origin or whether the character transforms. When a fact is unclear we prefer to leave it empty rather than make it up, which is why you will sometimes see a grey cell.

Does the daily character repeat?

Not until every character has appeared. In each difficulty the daily characters are picked without repeats until the full round is complete, and then a new round begins.

Day by day

Streaks and avatars

How do streaks work?

A streak counts the consecutive days you play a game, and each game has its own; the three difficulties of Guess the character add to the same streak. Skip a day and the streak starts over. Your current streak and best record are on your Profile.

I lost my streak. Can I get it back?

Yes, with a shield. If a streak of at least 3 days breaks, you can spend a shield to restore it as if you had played yesterday. You get 1 shield a month; 2 once your best streak reaches 50 days and 3 from 100.

How do I unlock avatars?

By playing. Avatars come from long streaks, trying different games, adding up days played, adding friends and sharing your results. There are common, rare, epic, legendary and ultra-legendary ones, and you can equip any of them from your Profile.

Competition

Leaderboards and fair play

How does the monthly leaderboard work?

There is one leaderboard for each difficulty of Guess the character and others for the Wordle and the Hidden warrior: the lowest average number of guesses for the month wins. In the Pyramid, your daily correct placements add up, and in the Word search your average time counts. Giving up or skipping a day is penalized, so consistency counts as much as accuracy. When the month ends the leaderboard closes and a new one starts.

What nickname can I use?

Between 2 and 20 characters, using letters, numbers, spaces and the symbols . - _. Offensive or reserved nicknames are not allowed. It is the name shown on the leaderboards and to your friends, and you can change it from your Profile.

What is a leaderboard pause?

It is the measure taken by our anti-cheat system. If it detects manipulated games, your scores stop appearing on the public leaderboards for a while, and the pause gets longer if it happens again. You can keep playing as usual, and if you think it is a mistake, write to us so we can review it.

Your account

Account, settings and support

How do I keep my progress on another device?

In Settings, create a link code on the device that already has your progress and enter it on the new one within 10 minutes. You can link up to 5 browsers, which share nickname, avatar, streaks, results and friends. Note: the browser that enters the code switches to that account and loses the one it had; we will warn you first.

What happens if I clear my browser data?

Your progress is tied to an anonymous ID stored in your browser. If you clear it or play in incognito mode, you will start from scratch in that browser. To avoid losing anything, link another device from Settings first.

Are there accessibility options?

Yes. In Settings you can turn on a high-contrast palette, designed for people who struggle to tell red from green, and switch off animations. Board cells also show symbols, not just colors.

I found a bug or wrong data. How do I let you know?

Tap “Report a problem” at the end of each game, choose what went wrong and describe it. The report includes the game, the language, the day and, in Guess the character, the difficulty. We review every report and fix the data for future games.

Questions about a specific game?

Each game has its own FAQ about rules, hints and colors.
